Joining Sumer Group: What does it mean for Monahans?
For the last 130 years, Monahans has been proudly serving businesses in the South West, building our reputation as the go-to firm of chartered accountants and business advisers for the region, whilst also expanding our national and international reach.
We pride ourselves in being a firm that never stands still, and as the financial and business landscape constantly shifts beneath our feet, we cannot be complacent. As part of our commitment to helping our clients achieve their ambitions, we are always looking for opportunities to enhance the service that we offer.
In the latest development, we have secured significant investment from ‘business champions’ Sumer Group Holdings Ltd, which will help to bolster our presence in the region.
Sumer Group is a fast-growing professional services firm dedicated to championing SMEs across the UK and Ireland to help them to grow and expand their presence. When it first began its search for accountancy firms, Monahans stood out and was chosen as a founder firm to kick off Sumer Group’s mission.
The overall goal for Sumer Group is to empower businesses like us and help local communities prosper financially. So far, Sumer Group has invested in seven other firms across the UK, including: RMT, R.T. Marke & Co Limited, Jerroms, Simmons Gainsford Group, Carpenter Box, EQ Accountants and Cowgills.
The acquisition means we have become part of the top 15 mid-market accountancy businesses in the UK, employing over 1,000 people in over 40 offices dotted around the country. It also puts us on the path of quadrupling our turnover within five years. Not only that, but it comes at a time when Monahans has already achieved significant organic growth, and so, with this additional expertise and resource, the future is looking bright.
Our partnership with Sumer Group allows us to continue operating as business-as-usual but with the opportunity to harness the additional resources now available to us, to further expand and cement our service offering with more hands on deck. As a result of the support, we recently acquired Swindon-based accountancy practice, David Starbuck Limited. Having a reputable local firm on board presents a brilliant opportunity for our development as a firm, and the ability to join forces and offer our shared expertise to our clients will be invaluable.
We will continue to help clients with all aspects of accountancy such as accounts preparation, bookkeeping, auditing and tax. The team will also continue to offer a range of more specialised services such as: Corporate Finance, Tax Consultancy, Business Recovery and Insolvency, Digital Cloud Accounting, Payroll Services, Probate, and HR services.
At Monahans, we believe there is always room for growth. We owe our success to being willing to adapt to the business environment around us, and ensuring that every choice we make enhances our long-term commitment to collaboration, innovation, and being a trusted business adviser in the South West. This is no doubt an extremely positive move for Monahans, our colleagues and our clients.
With the increased investment and bolstered support from Sumer Group, we can double our efforts to remain at the side of businesses and individuals and remain dedicated to putting our clients’ best interests at heart, guiding them through any hurdles with confidence, clarity, and commitment.
